Jerry Smith has been serving the youth of greater Summit county for over 17 years. Jerry has most definitely graduated from the “school of hard knocks” having attended 12 schools, lived in 5 foster homes, and fathered a child at 16 yrs of age. He states that his mission has become to use the unfortunate events of his upbringing to heal the hearts and minds of young people through revealing the truth of God’s love in relevant and transparent ways. Jerry also feels that living the Christian life is by far the coolest and most fun way go!
In his tenure of ministry in our area Jerry served as the Youth Pastor at Community of Believers Church on State Road in the Falls, Director of Student Ministries at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, founded The Light Teen Dance at the Falls Natatorium, served on the boards of RIOT, Akron Area YMCA, and hosted many large concerts, youth rally’s etc, winning over some 2000 young people to the Kingdom of God. He has been involved in mission work in France, Ukraine, Brooklyn/Queens-NYC, Niagara Falls-U.S.A, New Orleans-LA, and Birmingham-Alabama.
He currently serves as the Youth Pastor at St. Luke’s Ministries and in Copley. Jerry and Tiffany are proud parents of 2 children – Alyssa who is studying Law at University of Hawaii, and Caleb who is a sailor in the U.S. Navy. In his spare time he enjoys boating, camping, fishing, mountain biking and traveling. He can rarely be found without his Bible and Frisbee near-by.
